On October 8, 2026, Anthropic put Claude Dashboards into beta on every paid Claude plan. You describe the dashboard you want in a sentence, Claude pulls the numbers from the data you have connected, builds the charts, and keeps them current. The announcement names the big data warehouses and Salesforce. The question for an Amazon seller is simpler: does it work with an MCP connection to Amazon data, the kind AMZ Vault has shipped since the spring? We tested it the next morning with the AMZ Vault MCP server. It does.
The short version
- What it is: a dashboard Claude builds from a plain-language request, using any app you have connected to Claude, including a custom MCP connector like the AMZ Vault one. Every number opens into the query behind it, and every chart shows when its data was last refreshed.
- Who gets it: Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, in beta. Enterprise admins switch it on under Organization settings. The Free plan does not have it.
- Does it work with the AMZ Vault MCP connection: yes. One sentence asking for 30 days of daily spend, sales and TACoS plus a table of the top campaigns produced a working dashboard from our connector in about three minutes, with no setup beyond the connection existing users already have.
- The catch: a dashboard built on a connector reads data through the viewer's own connection, so it cannot be shared by public link. Your team can use it if they sign in to Claude in your organization and connect AMZ Vault themselves.
What we tested: an Amazon MCP connection as the data source
We opened a new Claude chat with the AMZ Vault connector attached and typed one request: build a dashboard for one profile with daily ad spend, ad sales and TACoS for the last 30 days, plus a table of the top ten campaigns by spend. Claude planned the pulls, called three of the connector's read tools (the daily trend, the campaign list and the warehouse query), wrote the page, and opened a dashboard titled for the profile: five headline cards, a daily spend-versus-sales chart, a daily TACoS chart and the campaign table, on a rolling window that ends yesterday so it is current each time it opens. The whole run took about three minutes. Nothing about AMZ Vault had to change: Dashboards reads from the same connection and the same tools your Claude already uses, which is the point of building on an open standard rather than a private integration. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the standard every major AI client now speaks; an Amazon MCP server that exposes the whole warehouse is what turns "connect once" into "ask for anything".
Three details from the run are worth knowing. Before the charts load, Claude asks you to grant the dashboard access to the connector and names the exact tools it will call, so you can see that a dashboard only reads. A Sources panel lists every pull, lets you edit a query's arguments and test it, and downloads any source's rows as a CSV. And the summary Claude wrote alongside the dashboard flagged which days skewed the window and which figures would still move as attribution closed, which is the kind of reading a static dashboard never gives you.
The same request run on the demo brand: one sentence to Claude, one Amazon MCP connection, a dashboard with headline numbers, three daily charts, the top campaigns and a daily detail table. Click to enlarge.
What it is not: it is not a replacement for the desk. The dashboard shows you numbers the way you asked for them. Today, Decisions and Outcomes show you what needs a decision, with the evidence, the approval and the verdict. Use the dashboard to look; use the desk to act.
How to build one
- 1. Connect AMZ Vault to Claude if you have not already. It is a custom connector pointed at the AMZ Vault MCP server, the same one-time step the AI connection has always used, and the connection page in your account walks through it. Existing users skip this.
- 2. Ask for the dashboard in a new chat. Name the profile or brand, the window and the metrics. "Build a dashboard of my last 30 days of ad spend, ad sales and TACoS by day, with a table of my top ten campaigns by spend" is enough.
- 3. Refine it in the same chat. "Add a filter for marketplace", "split the spend chart by ad type", "add last month's P&L as a second row". Claude edits the dashboard in place.
- 4. Check a number. Click it and read the query. That is the habit that makes the dashboard trustworthy.
- 5. Share with your team. Open the dashboard, click Share, and choose the people in your organization. Each of them needs their own AMZ Vault connection, which a team seat gives them.
Ten dashboards worth asking for
- Daily ad spend, ad sales, ACoS and TACoS for the last 30 days, by ad type.
- Profit by month for the year to date: revenue, fees, ad spend, refunds and net, one currency at a time.
- Top 20 products by 30-day profit with units, margin and refund rate.
- Inventory cover: units at FBA, at AWD and inbound per SKU, with days of cover and the reorder-by date.
- Search query performance for the top 50 queries: impression share, click share and purchase share, week over week.
- Campaigns hitting their daily budget in the last seven days, with hours in budget and estimated missed sales.
- Search terms with spend and no orders in the last 30 days, grouped by campaign.
- Placement performance by campaign: top of search, product pages and rest of search, with the current modifiers.
- Refunds by product and reason for the last 90 days.
- The AI team's staged changes awaiting approval, by department and age.
Every one of those reads from a tool the AMZ Vault MCP server already exposes. The full list is on the docs page, generated from the live server so it is never stale, and the same Amazon MCP connection serves ChatGPT and the other clients that speak the protocol.
What to know before you lean on it
- It is a beta. Anthropic says so, and it shows in the build time and in the occasional retry. Expect it to get faster.
- Sharing stays inside your organization. Anthropic's own help pages are clear that an artifact which reads from a connector cannot use "anyone with the link". A client or a partner without a Claude login in your organization cannot open it. For that audience, the desk's own pages and the P&L export remain the way.
- Each viewer uses their own connection. That is a feature: nobody sees data their AMZ Vault seat does not allow. It also means every viewer connects once.
- Your plan pays for the dashboard; your AMZ Vault subscription does not change. We charge one flat price and never meter your own data. Dashboards runs on Claude's side and counts against your Claude plan's usage.
- Currencies do not mix. Ask for one marketplace or one currency per chart, as you would anywhere else in the platform.
Why an MCP connection to Amazon data matters more than it looks
Every seller tool ships the dashboard its designers thought you needed. Some let you rearrange widgets. None of them let you say what you want and get it. Dashboards does, and because AMZ Vault exposes the whole warehouse through one connection, the thing you can ask for is not limited to what we put on a page. That has been the argument for an open Amazon MCP connection since the day we shipped ours: your data should be yours to look at however you like, in whatever tool you prefer, for nothing extra.
The live demo runs on a fictitious brand with no signup if you want to see the desk itself. The connection page in your account has the steps for Claude, ChatGPT and the rest.
