Negation and harvesting cadence
The paired routine that steadily moves spend from waste to winners.
Negation and harvesting are one motion, run weekly or biweekly: remove spend from terms that do not convert, redirect it to terms that do.
Negation
- Work from the negation candidates view - it pre-filters to terms with enough clicks to judge.
- Check conversion history before negating. A term that converted in an earlier window and stopped is a listing, price, or stock question - negating it hides the symptom.
- Negative-exact the precise bad queries; reserve negative-phrase for whole families of irrelevant intent. Broad negatives clipped too early cost discovery.
Harvesting
- Graduate terms sustaining roughly a conversion per week or better into their own exact targeting, in a campaign advertising the same product family that earned the conversions.
- The harvesting view runs duplicate checks so you never double-target what an exact campaign already covers.
- Set the graduated bid from the term's own cost-per-click and conversion history, not a flat default.
Automating it
Both motions run well as automation rules with AI Workforce Review - the rules fire on your thresholds, the Automation Review Analyst sanity-checks each one against margins and stock, and you approve the final list.
